About
Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is a world-class educational institution and amongst the leading colleges in India offering 36 Undergraduate, 31 Postgraduate, 4 Integrated and 3 Research Programmes. Established in 1984 as a self-financing institution called the Vellore Engineering College, the students can get direct admission here, the college went on to be granted University status and is now known as the Vellore Institute of Technology.
NAAC has re-accredited VIT with an ‘A’ grade. The campus has a cosmopolitan atmosphere and has students from all over the world. Infrastructure
The infrastructure offered by VIT is best in class. Fully furnished and spread across 250 acres, VIT is a well-managed. There are 7 academic blocks spread over the 250 acres and each has its own name and speciality.
There are various auditoriums and all have wifi and other facilities for pursuing education and research. Students can get direct admission in the college in 2019.

Admission
Admission into VIT is by means of the VITEEE examination conducted every year. The students based on their merit are given a range of options to pursue their under graduation degree. The Institution currently offers 36 undergraduate programmes inclusive of B.Arch degree (5 years) programme for students willing to pursue Architecture. Admission into architecture is from NATA scores.
- The admission will be purely on the basis of the marks secured in the VITEEE-2018, conducted by VIT
- Candidates who have not appeared for the VITEEE are not eligible for admission
- Candidates will be shortlisted based on their entrance examination rank and will be called for the counselling
- VITEEE for B.Tech. programme is common for VIT-Vellore, VIT-Chennai, VIT-Bhopal and VIT-AP
- Candidates can select the campus of their choice at the time of counselling based on the ranking.
- For admission into B.Des. Industrial Design, UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design) is not mandatory, if the candidate has cleared VITEEE
- Advertisement given regarding issue of application forms, important dates etc., in all leading newspapers all over India and notified in the VIT website regarding VITEEE. Applications can be obtained from selected Post Offices / apply online through Netbanking / DD mode
- VITEEE Computer Based Test is conducted all over India and abroad.
- Candidates who have not appeared for the VITEEE are not eligible for admission to B.Tech. programmes
- Result will be published in VIT website.
- The candidates will be short-listed based on their entrance examination rank and will be called for the counselling.
- The eligible candidates will be called for counselling in batches and allotment of branches on the basis of the rank.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR NRI AND FOREIGN CANDIDATES
Admission is based on merit (marks/grades obtained in the qualifying examination-refer the Eligibility Norms) and availability of seats. Also, direct admission through management quota services is provided.
FOR NRI CANDIDATES
- English as one of the subjects in the qualifying Examination.
- For admission to B.Tech courses, candidates should have completed 12 years of schooling (equivalent to 10+2 system of Indian Education) with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology or Biotechnology as compulsory subjects
- Minimum average of 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) or Biology or Biotechnology (PCB) in standard XII or Equivalent Degree (Usually it is Grade ‘C’, to be produced with equivalent marks For Foreign candidates)
- Candidates can take direct admission under management quota.
FOR FOREIGN CANDIDATES
- English should have been studied in the higher secondary level OR the candidate should have studied in an English medium school. Mathematics and Physics are compulsory two subjects at A level/Form VI/ Senior VI or its equivalent. The third subject can be either Chemistry / Computer Sciences / Electronics / Biotechnology / Biology.
- For admission to B.Tech. Biotechnology or Biomedical engineering, the eligible combination is either Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) OR Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB).
- Minimum of 60% aggregate marks in these subjects (or its equivalent grade) in standard XII or its equivalent
About VITEEE
- VITEEE Computer Based Test(CBT) conducted in the month of April and the duration of the entrance examination will be of 2 hours 30minutes.
- The exam will be conducted as 3 sessions per day.
- All Questionswill be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ).
- PART-I Physics, PART-II Chemistry, PART-III Mathematics / Biology, PART-IV English Candidates attempting Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English are eligible for all the B.Tech programmes offered.
- Candidates attempting Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English are eligible for B.Tech. Bio-Medical Engineering, B.Tech. Biotechnology and B.Tech. Computer Science and Engg (Spec. in Bioinformatics) programmes only.
- The selection of subjects (Physics/Chemistry/ Mathematics or Biology/English) has to be mentioned on the application form itself

- All the questions will mostly be from the State Board of Higher Secondary Education and the CBSE syllabus.
- Each part has 40 questions and English has 5 questions with each question carrying one mark.
- Each question is followed by 4 alternative answers. The candidate will have to choose the correct answer and click the same.
- No negative marks for wrong answers.
- The Question paper will be in English only and Equating Methodology is used to adjust scores on test forms
